The respective decision was taken at the Committee’s meeting on Wednesday, May 14.
The draft resolution (Reg. No. 4753) stipulates suggest the Acting President of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov to take the decision, in line with article 7 of the Law “On Ukraine’s participation in international peacekeeping and security operations”, on withdrawal of all national peacekeeping contingents and personnel that participate in international operations on peacekeeping and security and urgently return them to Ukraine for the purpose of their participation in protection of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In the course of discussion, Committee members noted that withdrawal of national peacekeeping contingents and personnel that participate in international operations on peacekeeping and security requires a long time. According to the people’s deputies it will take 20 months.
People’s deputies also noted that Ukraine is one of active UN member-states which participates in maintaining peace and security in hot spots. Thus, according to them, such decision can harm positive image of Ukraine on the international arena.
During the meeting, the Committee granted a hearing to Deputy Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine, Chairman of the Anti-terrorist Headquarters V.Krutov, and Chairman of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine M.Kutsyn about the information on conducting the anti-terrorist operation in the East of Ukraine. The consideration was held in a closed mode.
